Lovecraft Beauty: Warm Rituals Eyeshadow Palette Review

Lovecraft Beauty is a company with a great concept. They stand for Love+Craft+Beauty.

Their motto is to love yourself, love your craft and love your beauty. They aim to create makeup that helps every person express themselves and their individuality.

With a belief like that, it’s understandable why everyone has tried this makeup at least once. However, there are quite a few things about their eyeshadow palettes that you need to keep in mind before you pay almost $30 for one eyeshadow palette.

Lovecraft Beauty Warm Rituals Eyeshadow Palette Swatches

The colors are warm tones of cream, brown, orange, and green. The three brown shades are matte formulas. The others are shimmery, especially the orange. A unique combination of fall colors makes this eyeshadow perfect for those with brown eyes!

Warm Rituals Pros Vs. Cons

On the surface, this eyeshadow palette looks like a dream come true. I have hazel eyes, and these shades were the perfect colors. Lovecraft Beauty was designed by a professional makeup artist, so you instantly assume that it’s going to live up to your expectations. However, there were a few areas where it fell short.

Pros

No Smudging or Creasing

While the look seems to fade away as the day goes on, it’s not going to look bad. The eyeshadow does not crease in the center of your eyelid. It also won’t smudge across your face due to the humidity that summer brings. If you can figure out a way to make it stay all day, this eyeshadow can become one of your favorite products.

Cruelty-Free

This company advertises that they do not test their products on animals. When you pick up one of these eyeshadow palettes for brown eyes, you know that you’re not contributing to animals being used to make sure that makeup products are safe.

Great for One Color Looks

While this eyeshadow is horrible at blending, that doesn’t matter if you only wear one color of eyeshadow. You can create a look by swiping a chocolatey brown across your eyelid with some eyeliner and be done for the morning! That makes this a great beginner eyeshadow palette.

Cons

The Shades Are Not Very Pigmented

While the eyeshadow colors look exceptional in the palette, they are not highly pigmented once you put them on. This works well for people that might want a more neutral look with shades of brown. However, it’s not going to be your favorite palette if you prefer to add a pop of color to your eyelids, as most of us do.

Poor Staying Power

I’ve tried to wear this eyeshadow three ways. First, I just wore the eyeshadow. It didn’t last all day. Unfortunately, I got similar results when using primer and my Urban Decay setting spray. To enjoy a look all day, you’ll need to reapply it during your lunch hour.

This eyeshadow also wipes off relatively easily with water. Wearing this formula in the rain, during high humidity, or any time aside from cooler Fall weather is not a good idea.

Doesn’t Blend Well

When trying to pull off the perfect smokey eye, you’re going to run into problems when using this formula. The colors muddy together to form almost a new shade instead of blending smoothly together for a seamless eyeshadow look. Overall, that was very disappointing.

Matte Formula Is Powdery

The matte formula used is a bit powdery. It doesn’t go on as smoothly as the shimmer or glitter formulas do. In the picture above of Lovecraft Beauty Warm Rituals swatches, you can see that the matte formulas have chunks of powder. This is also how it goes on your eyelids. This can be a problem, especially if you prefer cream eyeshadows.

The Price

Paying almost $30 for an eyeshadow palette with six colors that do not stay, and do not blend well, is not going to happen for me. I simply can not justify spending that much on this product from Lovecraft cosmetics when Morphe is a fraction of the price and blends beautifully. (Morphe palettes cost approximately the same but include so many colors that you get a fantastic deal every time.)

Who Is Lovecraft Beauty Warm Rituals Eyeshadow Palette For?

While this isn’t my favorite palette, there are a few people that it will work well for. If you’re interested in trying it out, keep these things in mind before adding it to your cart.

Does Not Look Well With Faces That Have Red Undertones

If you have red undertones, even if they are mild, the shimmer colors can leave you looking more like a clown, thanks to your rosy cheeks. In order to make this eyeshadow palette work, you will need to cover the red undertones with foundation before applying.

Makeup Artists Will Be Frustrated

Blending eyeshadow to create an amazing look is one of the fun things about being a makeup artist. You can create unique looks and make someone’s day with eyes that pop. Because this eyeshadow doesn’t blend well, it’s not a great tool to have.

Beginners Will Love It

Using this eyeshadow palette instantly reminds me of the way that I put on eyeshadow as a beginner. In the beginning, I used only one color. Blending was a foreign concept to me. If you know anyone just beginning to wear makeup, they’ll appreciate the Lovecraft Beauty Warm Rituals eyeshadow palette.

Worth It?

The Lovecraft Beauty Warm Rituals eyeshadow palette has beautiful colors that work well with brown or hazel eyes.

The formula leaves a bit to be desired, though. You simply cannot pull off a lot of eyeshadow looks with it.

However, if you’re a fan of using a single color of eyeshadow, this could easily be the palette for you.
