5 Ways To Look Put Together

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We all have different styles and ideas of what beauty is. For some people it's being blonde, tall and thin. For others it may be being short, curvy and with hot pink hair. None of that matters as long as you are happy and confident. With that being said, there are certain things anyone can do, regardless of their personal style that will make you feel more confident. Here are 5 ways to look more put together.

1. Make Your Eyes Pop

Your eyes are the window to your soul. Whatever your style is, making them stand out can really make you stand out in a room. It also will automatically make you seem more confident because people equate eyes to confidence. Whether you want to do a nude eye or a fun, bright-colored lid, both are fine options as long as you do the following three things.

1. Use a good volume mascara. Mascara makes your eyes look bigger, lashes look fuller, and because of all the different types and colors you can choose from, it can help you to look sexy, sophisticated, or trendy, just depending on your mood.

2. Curl your eyelashes. Curling your lashes is one of the quickest ways to make you look more awake and thus put together. Finding a good eyelash curler is an easy and super cheap way to brighten your eyes by lifting the lashes.

3. Don't forget your eyebrows! It really wasn't until a few years ago that people really started taking care of their eyebrows. Having groomed, proportionate brows that are filled in do wonders for making you look more awake, put together, and just overall feel confident. The reason being is that your brows frame your eyes, and having more symmetrical brows, makes your face overall more appealing to look at. If you are new to getting your eyebrows done, I don't recommend making a drastic change at once. Maybe start by lightly tweezing or filling in your brows with a slightly darker color than your natural hair color. You can find many tutorials on TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube, or you can go to a professional nearby. Just make sure you research their work. The different ways you can work on your eyebrows are:

  • Tweezing
  • Waxing
  • Staining
  • Microblading (for a more permanent look)
  • Threading
  • Filling in with an eyebrow pencil.

2. Wear Heels

Wearing heels is such a simple way to make you look more put together. Whether you're wearing heels with jeans and a t-shirt, a sundress, or a skirt and crop top, heels can be worn with most outfits and quickly make you look more confident and attractive.

Some of the benefits of wearing heels are:

  • It makes you taller.
  • It makes your butt look perkier.
  • It can make you look thinner by elongating your body.
  • Studies have shown that women who wear heels that fit and are comfortable instantly feeling more confident.

If you hate wearing heels, don't. Of course, you won't be more confident in something that makes you uncomfortable. However, if you don't wear heels very often, I suggest giving it a try and seeing if you feel more polished and put together. There are so many different heights, styles, and colors that you could definitely find something that fits your personality and makes you feel powerful and sexy.

3. Wear Solid Colors

Wearing solid colors is an easy way to look more put together. While there is nothing wrong with patterns or fun designs, I highly recommend wearing solid colors if your goal is to look more polished. That typically gives you a look that appears less chaotic.

When you have stripes, flowers, or chevron, your eyes tend to gravitate towards the pattern. When you are wearing solid colors, however, people are more focused on you as a person.

4. Keep Jewelry Simple

Jewelry is an easy and fun way to complete any look. However, too much jewelry can be distracting and actually cheapen your look. One mistake many people make is wearing earrings, a necklace, a ring, and a bracelet all at the same time. While that look may be ok sometimes, as a general rule, if you're trying to look more put together, less is more. Having every type of jewelry on, unless done correctly, can look chaotic.

If you're wearing bold statement earrings, either don't wear a necklace or make sure it's very simple or dainty. If you're wearing a ring, skip the bracelet. Make sure not to mix metal colors or types of stones as well.

5. Wear Your Favorite Fragrance

Wearing perfume can boost your confidence, make you seem more attractive to others, and can be a natural aphrodisiac.

Some scents that are known to attract other people are:

  • Rose oil
  • Vanilla
  • Vetiver
  • Orange
  • Jasmine
  • Peppermint

Find a scent that you love that isn't super overwhelming. You'll be sure to get compliments!

You can depuff your eyes by using a cold spoon. Keep two teaspoons in the freezer to ensure they get nice and cold. Then on the days that you need it, simply put them under your eyes for about three minutes each. The cold will help constrict the blood vessels, which will depuff the eyes.

Next, you should find a great concealer to cover the dark circles. Look for shades with peach undertones in order to get rid of the blue and purple color of under-eye circles.

Curl Your Lashes

Curling your eyelashes is one of the best things you can do to make your eyes pop. I highly recommend buying an eyelash curler. The curled and lifted look of your lashes will make you appear refreshed and younger.

Using a light color eyeliner is a quick and easy way to make your eyes appear bigger and brighter. Try using a flesh-toned eyeliner right on the lower waterline to make your eyes really pop!

It's never too early to get ready for spring. Plus, it's a great way to shed those winter weather blues! I've compiled a list of my beauty must-haves, along with some helpful tips and tricks, so you can shed the bulky winter coat and fleece-lined leggings and step out in that cute, flowy dress with confidence.

Exfoliation

It's time to slough off the dead skin cells and reveal gorgeous, glowing skin for spring. My favorite thing to do is dry brush. All you need is a simple body brush. You can find an inexpensive one at Wal-Mart or Meijer. Before each shower, dry brush your entire body. Start with the tops of the feet, working your way in a circular motion up your legs. Then, gently brush the tops of the hands, working again in a circular motion up your arms. Don't forget your tush and back, ending with the torso. Always brush in a circular pattern toward the heart. This is a great way to exfoliate the entire body. Then, jump in the shower to reveal your gorgeous skin.

Another important beauty tool is a pumice stone. A simple one is fine; you don't need anything fancy. Use this in the shower to exfoliate the bottom of your feet. This is perfect for those of us who suffer from dry, cracked feet and want a do-it-yourself option.

Finally, you might consider a luxurious body scrub. I love Dove's Exfoliating Body Polish with Crushed Macadamia and Rice Milk. Not only does it get rid of the dead skin, but it hydrates as it exfoliates, leaving your skin feeling soft and smooth. You could also make your own body scrub using equal parts sugar and extra virgin olive oil. Throw in your used coffee grounds to firm and tighten skin, reducing the appearance of cellulite. Use this body scrub with caution, though. It makes a mess!

Dollar Shave Club

Shaving products can rack up a lot of money. There are almost too many options to choose from, specialized products for both men and women, ranging from shaving gels and creams to fancy razors. My husband and I decided to try Dollar Shave Club back in 2015. At the time, we were spending a lot of money on razors and blades every few months. As a woman, I prefer a man's razor. They have five blades and stay sharp longer than products marketed to women. My husband and I are proud members and recommend it to everyone! It's inexpensive, only $9 for a set of blades. You can also postpone shipments if needed.

In recent years, Dollar Shave Club has expanded its options to include more great products. They have pretty much anything you need, from toothbrushes and toothpaste to hair gel. While it's marketed to men, the products also work well for women. My husband and I both love Dr. Carver's Easy Shave Butter. It softens hair and hydrates skin for a smooth shave.

Dollar Shave Club is a great way to save money on all your shaving and hygiene needs.

Lotion

After exfoliating and shaving, it's time to moisturize. Hydrated skin is a must for spring. If you are a busy mom or on-the-go gal, consider an in-shower lotion. These are perfect for capturing the skin's ultimate moment of hydration. All you have to do is apply the product as you would a normal lotion, right in the shower, while your skin is still wet. Then pat dry with a towel, and you are good to go! My personal favorite is Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer with Refreshing Coconut Oil. It leaves skin feeling silky soft all day!

My current favorite lotion is Neutrogena Hydro Boost with Hyaluronic Acid. This body gel cream is just like their facial moisturizer, giving the entire body hydration and locking it in for soft, supple skin. I've been using it for a month and absolutely love how my skin looks and feels!

If you are looking for an inexpensive lotion that will have you dreaming of the beach, try Queen Helene's Cocoa Butter Hand and Body lotion. This stuff is amazing! Not only is it inexpensive, but you get 32 ounces in a bottle. It lasts a really long time! I'm still using the bottle I purchased back in July. It moisturizes your skin and leaves a pleasant coconut scent, which will have you thinking about soft sand and warm water. Bring on spring!

These budget-friendly lotions will leave your skin feeling soft and silky.

Self-Tanning

From the time I was 21 up through 23, I frequented the tanning salon. Lathering my skin with sexy scented lotion, laying in the warm bed with my cute tanning shades on, and listening to the current hits was my happy place. Nothing was better, especially during the cold winter months. It became my respite from the stress of my job. It was relaxing and comforting. However, I was a bit of a tanning snob, having to have the package that offered the best technological bed at that time, which also meant a hefty $90 per month. I would go every other day, enjoying the warm radiation for up to 10 minutes at a time. My skin had a gorgeous sun-kissed glow, or so I thought. If I'm honest, it became an obsession.

I would look at my body in the mirror and freak out if I started to look pale. I had to keep my tan; it was a lifestyle after all. That all changed when one day, my husband noticed three purple spots on my shoulder. They resembled the beginnings of skin cancer, and that promptly ended my trips to the salon. Why would I pay that much money each month just to develop a horrible disease? While it wasn't skin cancer, it freaked me out enough to get me to stop. But, I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss it. It was my 'me time,' a chance to escape whatever was going on in life and just relax. Nowadays, I don't encourage people to lay in a tanning bed, but I completely understand the appeal and desire to do so.

If you don't lay in a tanning bed, how do you get that beautiful sun-kissed glow? The magical world of self-tanner. Lotions, mousses, and sprays have come a long way in the past decade. There are so many options to choose from. You could spend the cash to go to the salon and get a spray tan, or you could do it yourself in the privacy of your own home.

I like the do-it-yourself option best. After you've exfoliated, you're ready to give yourself a treat. In the past, I've loved the convenience of the L'Oreal Paris Sublime Bronze self-tanning mist. It's easy to apply, and you can get your back on your own. The spray gives your skin a beautiful bronze tint that looks as though you've been on vacation somewhere tropical. I also love Jergens Natural Glow + Firming daily moisturizer. It's easy to apply and gradually builds the color you want, without streaking or looking fake. I also love it because it helps give the appearance of tight, firm skin on the thighs and upper arms, which is a bit of a problem area for me.

Everyone looks good with a sun-kissed glow, and it's the perfect way to get ready for spring!

Put Your Best Face Forward

Now is the time to get into a good skin-care routine for your face. Washing your face in the morning and in the evening is a must. I have dry skin, so I use a cleanser once a day, usually in the evening. I love Neutrogena Deep Clean Cream Cleanser. It's gentle and leaves a refreshing tingle on the skin. It's perfect for those of us who still have issues with acne. I also love Neutrogena Deep Clean Invigorating Foaming Scrub. I use this once or twice a month on my face to exfoliate. I love using this on my back to combat acne from working out.

If you are dealing with acne issues, I highly recommend visiting a dermatologist. I spent a lot of money and time on over the counter acne creams and serums, trying to get rid of the hormonal acne around my chin and the little bumps that were cropping up on my forehead and temples. It was frustrating because nothing worked long-term. Finding a dermatologist was the best decision I ever made. My doctor assessed my skin and prescribed two lotions for me. I've been on this regiment for about three years now, and my skin is clear and beautiful again. Do yourself a favor this year and see a dermatologist.

Now that I'm in my 30s, anti-aging skin care is on my mind. I have a few lines around my eyes when I smile, and there are a few lines around my mouth as well. I'm not obsessed with getting rid of them, but I do want to keep my skin plump and hydrated. To combat these issues, I use Olay Pro-Retinol eye treatment twice a day and Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting cream all over my face at night. This combination has made my face look amazing! In fact, the last time I went to the dermatologist, she was impressed by how my skin looked. Both products keep my face hydrated and fresh. I love them!

Neutrogena is my favorite brand for face cleansers.

Hair Goals

Everywhere I go, I get compliments on my hair. People stop me in the store to tell me that they love my hair color, and are often surprised when I tell them it comes from a box. While my hair is long, it's pretty low maintenance. Over the years, I've learned that when it comes to hair, less is more, and if you have the right products, you're set.

My hair is long and thick, and it is a pain to wash. Each week I play a fun game, how long can I go without washing my hair? Usually, it's four days, but my personal best is six days. How do I do it? Dry shampoo: a girl's best friend. I love Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Dry Shampoo. It absorbs all the oil without leaving a white residue, and it smells like the beach!

The secret is to apply it at night before going to bed. I put my hair in a top knot and spray all around my head, focusing on the roots. When I wake up in the morning, my hair has completely absorbed it, looking fresh and ready for the day. I can do this for a few days without it weighing my hair down. Sometimes I will spray it into my locks to freshen up and give me a beachy tousled look. I don't like my hair to look perfectly coiffed, I like it a little messy and wild.

When I do wash my hair, I am careful of the products I use, especially because I dye it red. Red is the hardest color to keep, as it generally fades quickly to a mousey brown. I've found a way around that. I use Garnier Nutrisse Light Intense Auburn R3. It is the only red that does not fade. As for shampoo, I love a few different brands. TreSemme Color Revitalize is perfect for cleaning your hair without stripping your color. I also love these budget-friendly Suave products:

  • Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Color Care
  • Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Color Care
  • Suave Professionals Sheer Color Radiance

In addition, I always have Suave Essentials Daily Clarifying shampoo in my shower. I use it a few times a month to get rid of any product build-up and it also can double as a body wash.

When it comes to conditioner, I'm picky. Because my hair is so thick, I need a deep conditioner every time I wash my hair. I love Aussie 3 Minute Miracle 3X Moisture. It keeps my hair soft and silky. I also love L'Oreal Paris Elvive Revive. They've rebranded this product a few times. It used to come in a large red tub. It was my favorite deep conditioner and kept my red hair vibrant. Unfortunately, it is difficult to find in stores near me.

Recently, Influenster sent me a complimentary bottle of L'Oreal Paris Elvive Color Vibrancy Rapid Reviver Deep Conditioner. This is the same product mentioned above, but now in a bottle. They are marketing it as a deep conditioner that you can use every time you wash your hair. I love this product! It keeps my hair soft and silky and keeps my red vibrant, but again, I can't find it in any stores near me.

Aside from that, I highly recommend Moroccan oil. There are several brands that sell this. It's great for keeping hair soft, silky, and shiny, a must for anyone who colors their hair.

With spring coming, you might be tempted to straighten your hair or pull out your curling rod for beautiful waves. Why not give your tresses a break from all that heat? Try a cute side braid. I love doing a combination of a regular braid, a fishtail braid, and a knot braid. It's a simple style that always looks classy!

Less is more when it comes to hair. A deep conditioner and a dry shampoo are a girl's best friend.

Kissable Lips

Winter weather is harsh on skin and on lips. Make sure you keep your lips soft by keeping chapstick on hand. I love Carmex. It's a simple, inexpensive lip balm. I always have one for the bathroom, one for the living area, and one in my purse. It keeps lips hydrated and soft, a must for the transition between winter and spring. Be sure to keep your lips exfoliated as well. You can easily use your toothbrush or a simple sugar scrub.

Other Beauty Must-Haves

Everyone should keep Vaseline on hand. It works wonders to keep feet, knees, and elbows soft. It can double as a lip balm or gloss. You can even use it to remove make-up. It has a variety of household uses as well.

When it comes to nail polish, consider a nude, beige, light pink, or white for a classic look on the fingers. Keeping a neutral shade on your nails always looks clean and professional. For the toes, you might want a pop of color to celebrate spring. Consider a peachy pink, coral, or red for a pretty, classic look.

Fragrance is another beauty favorite. Consider finding your signature scent this year. My all-time favorite scent is Calvin Klein Euphoria. It's equal parts mature and sexy. I also love Victoria's Secret Heavenly. It's romantic and sensual, making you feel confident every time you wear it. I also love a great body mist. Victoria's Secret Bare Vanilla is my favorite.

Additional Beauty Tips

Aside from products, there are a few things you can do every day to make sure you are feeling your very best for spring. Be sure to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. You will also want to get in some movement every day. You don't always need to hit the gym or do a lengthy workout. Get outside for a refreshing walk or go hiking at your local park. In addition to that, make sure you are getting enough sleep each night.

When it comes to beauty, I've found that simple is always best. It's easier to follow, and you're more likely to stick with it. Happy spring!

I like your beauty routine. As I am older I probably have dryer skin, so I alwys but lotion on wet skin as it sure helps. My dermatologist suggested I use Cerave cream, so I use the clenser and the night cream. It has helped. I want to try The Dove exfoliating product you listed and some other products as well.

In the quest for the fountain of youth, many women are actually drinking from contaminated waters. Instead of rewinding aging, they’re unintentionally pushing it into fast-forward. Their arithmetic is all wrong—rather than subtracting years from their appearance, they’re actually adding years. Consider avoiding these ten beauty mistakes that can appear to accelerate aging instead of slowing it down.

A fresh, youthful look starts with the right foundation.

1. Using Too Much Foundation

When it comes to foundation, less is more. You may be tempted to slather on foundation to cover your facial flaws, but you’ll actually wind up with a thick, mask-like appearance that makes you look old beyond your years. Avoid cake-like foundation. It looks unnatural, can clog your pores, and can settle into fine lines and draw attention to them.

Be on the lookout for a light, oil-free foundation. In the search for the right foundation, you may have to try many until you find one that’s the perfect balance of color and texture. If the myriad of foundations confuses you, ask an expert at a makeup counter for assistance.

A too-thin face will add years to your appearance.

2. Being Underweight or Yo-Yo Dieting

Maybe you can’t be too rich, but you can be too thin. When you’re underweight, you lose facial fat, which causes droopy skin and a gaunt, older appearance.

Dieting like a yo-yo is also a no-no that can prematurely age you. The constant weight gain and loss stretches and loosens your skin, so try to maintain a consistent, healthy weight. While you’re striving to achieve that weight, you can use a skin-plumping and tightening cream to tide you over.

3. Over-Tweezing Your Eyebrows

Another beauty gaffe that can give your face a gaunt, skeletal appearance is over-tweezing your eyebrows. Thinner brows tend to age you, even if you’re young. When you overdo the plucking, you risk scarring the follicles, preventing the hair from growing back. Serums are available to help regrow eyebrows.

You can also avoid adding extra years to your appearance by splurging on a professional brow shaping. An alternative is to keep the shape that you have, being extra careful to pluck only hairs that stray under the brow bone.

Pump up your brows’ volume with an eyebrow powder in a shade that matches your brow’s natural color. Subtly apply the powder a bit higher than your eyebrows’ natural arch, using a soft, feathery touch. Steer clear of cream-based brow fillers, which are too severe.

Use lower-lid eyeliner sparingly.

4. Using Eyeliner on Your Lower Eyelid

Your lower eyelid should be surrounded with that yellow tape that says, “Do not cross,” because it should be off-limits to eyeliner and mascara. Why? If they smudge, they emphasize dark circles and shadows in wrinkles, as well as other dark areas of your face. They can also draw attention to crow’s feet. All of this can equate to you looking tired and older.

Try to only use liner and mascara (preferably waterproof to stay in place) on the top eyelid to help you look refreshed and alert. If you must go for a smoky eye, apply mascara and liner very lightly over your lower lid.

5. Wearing Dark, Matte Lip Shades

The older you are, the older you’ll look if you attempt to pull off dark, matte lip shades. They lack softness, which makes them look very hard and severe. Matte colors can also bleed and feather in the tiny lines outside of your lips, which can add years to your appearance.

Instead, go for a softer look with a lip liner or stain in a dark color, overlaid with a sheer gloss to offset the dark shade’s harshness. Another caution regarding dark lipsticks—they’ll age thin lips by making them appear even thinner.

Also, put that red lipstick back in your makeup bag, and leave it there. Red is a loud, flashy color that will draw attention to lines around your mouth and can make your teeth look more yellow.

No matter what shade or texture you wear, outline your pout with lip liner to keep lipstick in place.

Sweep blush high on your cheekbones.

6. Applying Blush Incorrectly

You’re supposed to apply blush to the apples of your cheeks, right? Well, not exactly. Your cheeks are susceptible to sagging, and blush will only draw attention to this flaw. Instead, highlight your cheekbones by following their line and sweeping powdered blush upward.

Be sure you don’t apply the powder like two stripes of war paint. Instead, use a rounded, tapered brush for a silky smooth glow. Color matters too. If you go for a shade that’s too bright or too dark, you may end up looking like you belong in the circus. Opt instead for a lighter, softer hue that works well with your skin tone (rose is great for many), so you don’t get a call from the Ringling Brothers.

7. Being Too Harsh on Your Under-Eye Area

Any repetitious facial motion or habit is eventually going to leave its evidence on your skin. The delicate eye area (skin under the eye is seven times thinner the rest of the face) is particularly susceptible to frequent rubbing and pulling. This can cause the pigment around your eyes to darken, adding numerous years to your appearance.

Also, avoid premature aging and pigment problems by being very gentle with the skin around your eyes when putting in or taking out contact lenses and when applying eye makeup.

8. Ruining Your Teeth and Mouth

One of the advantages of drinking soda, coffee, or tea through a straw is that it can shield your teeth from staining. The drawback is that it’s prematurely aging you.

Whenever you purse your lips to drink from a straw or to smoke a cigarette, you’re etching lines all around your mouth. So ditch the straw and the smokes, and save your pucker for kissing!

9. You Don't Take Care of Your Hands and Nails

Your hands are one of the fastest-aging parts of your body. Dry, rough hands, no matter what your age, pile years onto your appearance. Slather on a moisturizing lotion, preferably one with sunscreen, several times a day to keep your hands hydrated and restore a dewy luster. A 2013 Australian study determined that women’s hands didn’t age at all after a sunscreen treatment every day for four years.

Out-of-style manicures can also fast-forward the clock. Long nails make your hands look old and witch-like. If nails are long and pointy, your hands will appear even more aged. Instead, pare your nails slightly past your fingertips.

Bright nail polish colors, such as orange, hot pink, and red, can shift the focus away from aging hands. Make sure you wear a warm red, rather than a blue-based one that can accentuate blue veins and spots. The same goes for purples and any shade of blue polish. Avoid nude colors, which are so subtle that they defeat the purpose of providing a distraction from the rest of the hand.

Okay, well....if I had this hair, I'd probably leave it long for the rest of my life!

10. You Don't Have the Right Hairstyle

Some women think long hair rocks. Some think short hair is frumpy. No matter how much you love your Rapunzel tresses, they may make you look old and gaunt as you age and lose fat in your face. They draw the eye downward, making for a less-than-pleasing visual.

How to Build "Put Together" Outfits

Your choice of clothes has a big impact on your appearance. We often get caught up in thinking we need the latest, brand name styles. But it's not the dollar amount of the items that count. It's how well they fit and their condition.

Coordinated outfits are a sign that you've mastered adulthood. And they're not as hard to achieve as it might seem!

Let's break down what makes a classy looking outfit:

  1. Coordinated colors and fits.
  2. All items fit properly.

None of these items need to cost much but it does take some money and time to figure out each.

Use Balanced Silhouettes

Balancing fits is something basic you can do to automatically look stylish. Some items fit tighter like skinny jeans or tight tops, others are loose. A general guideline is to style your upper half or lower half tight or loose and then do the opposite on the other half. So a full skirt on bottom should be paired with a tight tank on top. Wear a bagging sweater with slim or skinny jeans.

Take Care of Your Clothes

A fabulous blouse that fits great and goes with everything will still drag you down if it's wrinkled. Maybe you have time to iron all your shirts but for me this Secure Handheld Steamer has been the holy grail of looking classy.

No matter what I do, most of my clothes dry with anywhere from a slight to horrid amount of wrinkles. This keeps me from looking polished, when I spent so much time trying to look nice. A handheld steamer changed all this and was a cheap and quick solution.

Stick to A Color Palette

Color makes a huge impact in our outfits. You probably know what colors look good on you and if you don't you can take some fashion color quizzes on Google. Making outfits is easier with a simple color palette. Pick a few colors you like and one or two neutrals.

Part of the reason capsule wardrobes are so popular is they have a simple color palette and one or two silhouettes. So whatever you grab from that wardrobe will immediate look great together, in color and fit!

On A Budget

If you find your wardrobe needs a change you don't need to replace all your clothing immediately. Simply limit yourself to your color palette and style when shopping for your next pieces. This strategy will gradually build your wardrobe into your secret weapon for looking great everyday.

Also, spend some time arranging the clothes you do have into new outfits. You'd be surprised what you can come up with when you dedicate 10 or 15 minutes a day trying new outfit combinations.

When you think of sexy, what color comes to mind? If you are like most people, you probably think red. Why is that? Maybe because red is a color that has been linked to love and passion. Think about it, red lipstick, red lingerie, red hearts for Valentine's Day, red roses, red is everywhere when it has to do with love. So when a person wears red, it automatically makes people more attracted to them.

In the study "Oxygenated-Blood Colour Change Thresholds for Perceived Facial Redness, Health, and Attractiveness," a group of men was shown pictures of a woman. For some men, the woman in the photo was wearing a red shirt. For others, the same exact woman was wearing a blue shirt. The results found that the men rated the woman in red as more attractive than the same woman who was wearing blue. They also were more interested in dating the woman with the red shirt. Surprisingly, when the men were asked if the color of her shirt had any influence on their attraction, none reported that it did. This indicates that color influences our judgments in an unconscious way. We don't even realize we're more attracted to it.

Try wearing red lipstick or a red dress to really stand out in a crowd. Even just having red nails or wearing red earrings can increase your chances of appearing more attractive.

Scientists at Oakland University asked 1,000 people to rate images based on attractiveness. Dr. Lisa Welling, the study's senior author, explains some of the possible reasons for the preference:

“It could be that relatively thicker eyebrows signal other qualities, such as a tendency towards more grooming . . . It is also possible that this preference reflects current fashion trends. Whatever the associated trait, it seems to be particularly desirable in a long-term mating context, such as marriage.”

So to make sure your eyebrows are "on fleek," you can try getting eyebrow extensions, using eyebrow gel or powder, or even get microblading, which is where they are essentially tattooing the perfect eyebrows on. I know that sounds scary, but if you go to an expert, it looks great!

8. Show Off Your Neckline

Sometimes when women think about showing off skin to look sexy, they think they have to show a lot of cleavage, but the truth is that they don't! It also draws attention to the length of your neck. To achieve this look, try wearing an off the shoulder shirt or cold shoulder sweater. To emphasize it more, you can actually take a highlighter and highlight your collarbone. Try layering some long but dainty necklaces to really draw your eye.

9. Wear Lipstick or Lip Gloss

Lipstick is an important beauty trick that most women can't live without. Wearing lipstick brings out the beauty in you and frames that gorgeous smile. Also, it draws people's eyes to your lips, which, of course, then makes them think of kissing.

You don't have to wear a dark color to look attractive. Even a nude color with a shimmery gloss will really pull the rest of your look together. If nothing else, wearing a lip product will make your lips look more hydrated and healthy, which is always a plus.

This is my favorite trick. Just add a little bronzer to your cheeks, over the bridge of your nose, along your temples, around your jawline, down your neck, and a touch along your collarbone. This warms up the face and will make you look radiant. It also gives the illusion that you've spent a little time soaking up the sunshine, even if you've stayed inside, laid on the couch, and binged Netflix all weekend.

Apply bronzer over your foundation or to a bare face for a cute, no make-up look. My favorite is Warmth from Bare Minerals. It gives your face a gorgeous, healthy glow, it's made from natural minerals, and looks beautiful on all skin tones.

Add a little bronzer for a beautiful, sun-kissed glow. Stroke of Light will help brighten your eyes.

2. Natural Make-Up

Now is not the time to experiment with a new look. You should do your favorite version of a classic, timeless look. The simpler, the better. I love a light, natural look. The idea is to make you look well-rested, your skin flawless, and your eyes sparkly and bright. You should look like you aren't wearing make-up at all. To achieve that, brighten your eyes with a white or cream-colored gel, shadow, or highlighter.

My favorite is Bare Minerals Stroke of Light eye brightener. Apply your favorite product in the corner of each eye and about a quarter of the way onto your eyelid, blending with the pad of your ring finger. Use just a little foundation, if any at all. Add a pretty pink gloss for a pop of color, if desired.

3. Accessories Are a Girl's Best Friend

When you aren't feeling great about your outfit or your overall look, spruce it up with a few accessories. Put on your favorite necklace, some funky earrings, or cute bangles. Maybe you decide to put on an heirloom piece that makes you think of a beloved family member. Bringing fond memories into mind will help lift your spirits. You might decide on a statement piece that always captures attention and brings compliments.

I have a beautiful rose quartz pendant that I put on when I'm feeling a little low. It helps remind me that I am loved and always brings a smile to my face. When I want to make a statement or radiate confidence, I wear my gorgeous black obsidian pendant. If I'm looking for something feminine and soft, I opt for a stunning pearl pendant my husband bought me our first Christmas together. If I'm pulling my hair back or I want something fun, I like to wear a pair of dangly earrings and a set of pearl studs.

Jewelry can help tie an outfit together or set a vibe. You don't have to choose a piece of jewelry, though. You might opt for a beautiful scarf or a fun belt. Accessories can help transform your day and your mood.

4. Scent

The sense of smell is so powerful that it can transport us back in time. Certain scents can bring about memories decades past that you thought you had forgotten. The next tip is to spritz yourself with your favorite scent, whether it's a perfume, a body spray, or even putting on a scented lotion. It might not make you look better, but it will lift your mood, make you smile, and give you an air of confidence. Be sure to spritz your scent on the inside of your wrists, on the back of your neck, and behind each knee.

5. Sunglasses

Sunglasses make you look like you have it all together, even if you don't. They add a dash of style and flair to any outfit. It's so simple and easy to put on a pair before you leave the house. Throwing on a pair of sunglasses is sometimes the only make-up I need!

Not only do they look cool, but sunglasses also help protect your eyes from the sun's harmful rays, and they can even help block allergens from getting into your eyes, making them itchy, watery, or red. I never go outside without my shades.

6. Wear Your Favorites

This is perhaps the most frustrating part of having an ugly day. You go to your closet, spend five to ten minutes deciding on which pieces you want to wear, pull them out, and put them on. Maybe you struggle while putting them on. You go to the mirror and take a look. Yikes. All of a sudden, you are racking your brain trying to figure out when you turned into a toad. You go back to the closet and repeat this process several times. At some point, your room looks like an F5 tornado ran through it, and you are lying on your bed trying to figure out how you can survive without ever leaving the house again.

Nothing is going to look right at this point. Here's what to do. Find your favorite outfit to fit whatever the occasion. For example, if you're running errands, pick out your favorite comfy shirt and your favorite pair of jeans. If you're off to work, pick out your favorite blouse and dress pants. You want the pieces that you know you always look good in, no matter what. Put them on and take a deep breath. Go the mirror, double-check that everything is in place, and be done. Grab yourself a cup of coffee or tea and head out.

When you have your favorite pieces on, deep down, you know you look good. You can safely leave the house and tackle your day without stressing too much about your clothes. Chances are, within ten minutes of leaving, you will feel better.

7. Rough It Up

Messy hair is gorgeous. What better time for a messy top knot or funky side braid than on a day when your hair is not cooperating? These are also great styles when it's raining or super humid out. I love a low, messy side braid.

I switch it up, starting with roughing up my part. Then I sweep my hair to one side, separating it into two chunky sections. Twist the sections of hair simultaneously toward the middle. Bunch them together, poke your pointer finger through the middle, and create two new sections. Repeat that one more time. From there, create three sections of hair and begin to braid as normal. Stop halfway down and split the middle section into two more sections. Add each section to the other two sections of hair so that you only have two sections of hair to braid. Begin creating a fishtail braid all the way to the end. Secure with an elastic. Gently pull on the sides of the braid to make it a little bigger and a little messier. Spritz with hairspray, and you are good to go.

I love doing different combinations of those three braids. It's a perfect summery mermaid look. Wear it to the beach, while running errands, or, depending on your job, to work.

If your roots are greasy or just growing in and you want to hide them, try throwing on a hat. Combine with the messy side braid, a simple ponytail, or leave it down, and you are ready to go.

8. Fake It 'Til You Make It

All the tips above can help your outward appearance, but being attractive and looking good is more about your attitude, confidence, and how you treat others. If you're still in a bad mood, try this:

Take a deep breath.

Hold for a slow count of 8.

Exhale slowly.

Repeat three to five times.

Then think of something you're grateful for, such as the warm weather, the sunshine, a hot cup of coffee, or just the simple fact that you have this day to spend with the people you love.

Smile, even if you don't feel like it.

Put on your favorite song as you travel to your destination.

Be kind and courteous to everyone you come into contact with during your day.

Doing those things will help transform your mood and your day. In the grand scheme of life, no one really cares what you look like. Most people are too busy focusing on themselves to notice that you don't like your outfit, or your hair is a little off today. What they will remember is how you've treated them, and that is the most important thing.

With the weather getting hotter, it's only natural that the humidity will affect our hair, which can be very inconvenient and even uncomfortable during the day.

To fight the frizz, try Moroccanoil Hydrating and Styling Cream to ensure a firm hold throughout the day. It is a completely natural product and won't cause any hair damage down the line.

If you have long hair, you will know that the heat can cause itching on the back of your neck, so during the summer, you might want to make the most of the length and try different styling methods. Have You Seen Alicia Keys?

Alicia Keys is probably one of the most stunning women on the planet today.

Yes, lately, she is walking around makeup-free, but the woman doesn't need makeup. She could likely bathe in the purest water that runs off of the Himalayas and use a new washcloth every time she washes her face. She could also probably afford the finest creams and makeup money can buy, but she's choosing to go makeup-free right now.

It's working for her, too. There are some women where you wonder how quickly they can get their makeup back on if they are going makeup-free, but there are others who look even more stunning without makeup. Alicia Keys falls into the latter category, and it has nothing to do with her physical appearance.

There's a certain grace and elegance that comes with being confident. I have no idea exactly how Ms. Keys might feel about herself in the dawn's early rays, in the evening after she's tucked her little ones into bed, or even when she gets that glance at herself after a full shower in the morning or evening. But I know it has everything to do with confidence.

You heard me.

It's the confidence with which she carries herself. There's no smug "you should be just like me" that you might expect from a major star who might be very full of him or herself—there's just the contented peace that comes with knowing who you are and knowing how hard you worked to get to that point.

Is Ms. Keys a talented musician? Absolutely. Is she an incredible singer? There's no question about that. But she's incredibly beautiful as well.

Certainly, she's got a full complement of makeup artists and hairdressers at her disposal so that she can look even more stunning than she already is. But it's the whole idea of her being able to shine with beauty daily, without makeup, that makes her so damn beautiful.

How many of us could learn a lesson from that?

I'm 44 years old, six feet tall, and have really gotten in shape compared to how I was in high school.

One thing that no one tells you about your 40s is that the acne that so plagued you as a teen could come back with a vengeance. I wake in the morning, go through my pre-work routine of coffee, vitamins, breakfast, and writing, perhaps making lunches, and by the time I hit the washroom to get ready to go teach, I'm almost dreading that first look in the mirror.

I know there's acne, and sometimes it's bad. The dark circles under my eyes seem to grow bigger by the day—or would that be the night? I rather enjoy the laugh lines that have creased the corners of my mouth and eyes, although I could do without the lines caused by my furrowing brow.

Granted, we all have our days—those days where we grimace at ourselves in the mirror and go, "who the hell is that?"

But we go through life just the same. It's far easier being comfortable with how you look and embracing it than to be looking in the mirror and thinking that you should be more and better than the image you see reflected back at you.

We all need to be more comfortable with who we are because it's with that comfort that we're able to truly shine and be beautiful. I'm not just talking women, either—men need to embrace that side of themselves as well and to know that it's OK to feel confident in who you are.

We keep saying that beauty is only skin deep, but we have a tendency to say that as we're paying a small fortune for the latest and greatest cream or lotion. It's time we set that aside and realize that like it or not, we have to embrace that person we see in the mirror and realize that there has been a lot that you've accomplished, and you've worked hard to get there.

Confidence is so much a part of the beauty regimen we all need to embrace.

Some Quick and Dirty Tips to Help Shave Time Off Your Morning Routine

I hate having to rush. But sometimes, it's necessary. Sometimes the thought of an extra half hour in bed is too good to resist! And other times, well, I just have better things to be doing in the morning than styling my hair or waiting for my body moisturiser to dry.

That's why I've pulled together a list of simple but extremely effective ways of cutting corners during your morning routine, without compromising on your hygiene, outfit, hair or make-up.

30-Minute Hair, Body, Clothing and Makeup

Cut Corners

I'm not saying you shouldn't shower. If you're anything like me, then you probably don't feel human until you've scrubbed yourself awake in the morning! But showering can encompass a lot of different elements that take up valuable time:

  • wash hair,
  • apply conditioner,
  • wash body while conditioner soaks into hair,
  • wash face with special facial soap (never the same soap we use for our bodies, no sir!),
  • shave appropriate parts of the body,
  • rinse conditioner,
  • exit shower,
  • apply moisturiser,
  • wait for moisturiser to dry...

The list could go on! Do we really need all these different layers of grooming?

In my opinion, yes. But I think it's time to cut some corners. Instead of sticking to your usual routine, try the following:

  • Use a two-in-one shampoo and conditioner.
  • Use a high-quality body scrub, suitable for face and body, like L’Oréal Paris Go 360 Deep Exfoliating Scrub.
  • Only shave where necessary!
  • Use an in-shower moisturiser like Nivea.

You might be thinking, "no way—I have to use a conditioner on my hair," but this leads me rather nicely on to my next point about the wonders of hairpieces.

Use a Clip-On Ponytail to Save Time

Washing, drying and straightening or styling your hair can take up a lot of time and add a lengthy process to your routine. When I'm in a rush, or if I'm limited when it comes to resources or space to get ready (such as in the changing rooms at the gym), I use a clip-on ponytail.

These are a fantastic way to get a great looking hairstyle in just minutes! If you're in a hurry and have skipped showering, you can apply some dry shampoo to your hair, put it up into a bun or ponytail, and then attach the hairpiece over the top of it.

Alternatively, if you've showered and washed your hair, you can part blow-dry your hair and tie it up into a tight bun, leaving your fringe free if you have one, and then apply the ponytail while your hair is still damp. You can then blow-dry and style your fringe as you normally would. A word of warning though, it is not particularly good for your hair and scalp to repeatedly tie your hair up before you have allowed it to dry properly—so I wouldn't advise that you do this on a daily basis. But once in a while, when you're really pushed for time, is fine.

Hairpieces have come a long way, and you can now buy human hair or high-quality synthetic hairpieces for a very reasonable price. I often use a simple drawstring ponytail over a tight bun or use a wrap-around or "scrunchie" hairpiece to change things up a bit. I'm terrible at styling my own hair, even if I've got hours to spare—so these are definitely my go-to product if time is of the essence

Cut The Fuss: Choose a Simple Outfit

By choosing a simple, one-piece outfit such as a dress, jumpsuit or playsuit, you can cut the fuss when it comes to actually getting dressed.

Now, this might seem like a no-brainer, but it's something that is definitely worth thinking about. If you choose an outfit that complements your coat or jacket, then you eliminate the additional complications of:

  1. Having to coordinate multiple items of clothing into a complete outfit that works together.
  2. Having to physically put on more than one item of clothing in order to get dressed (with the exception of underwear, naturally).

If you absolutely must wear trousers or jeans, try teaming these with a two-in-one top, such as a sweater with a shirt underneath it. Also, using a little baby powder on your legs will help you to slide your trousers on more quickly, and not spend time jumping up and down, lunging, and doing the 'skinny jeans dance' as you try to wriggle into your trousers (if they are tight, that is).

Remember—if you're trying to get ready and look great in less than half-an-hour, every minute counts. The time you save dressing yourself could be put to use on other elements of your look that will have a higher impact—such as hair and make-up.

Slap It On! Use an Eyeshadow Stick and Clear Mascara

When it comes to applying makeup in a hurry, it's best to keep it simple. What can you afford to skip off your routine?

In my opinion, it's eye make-up that provides us with our greatest transformation. I honestly feel naked if I don't at least have a little mascara and perhaps a touch of eye-liner. So when I say "slap it on"—I don't mean you should paint an inch thick. I mean, you should use make-up that is so easy to apply that you could do it in the dark (although I wouldn't advise it).

I would suggest using an eye-shadow stick, such as Avon Extra Lasting Eyeshadow Stick. You can literally paint it on, smudge with your fingertips, and your look is complete. The metallic finish is softened by the powder-like effect, so what you're left with is the look of a fine dusting of powder.

Then again, to save time, you could consider using a clear mascara. This is extremely easy to apply because if you smudge a little, it isn't visible. Great Lash Clear Mascara from Maybelline is a good choice!

BB Creams

Instead of applying moisturiser, primer and then foundation, combine all three by using a BB cream instead. These nifty formulas are designed to conceal, moisturise, and even your skin tone whilst providing flawless coverage like a foundation.

There are a variety of different BB creams on the market, and various different options to cater to different types of skin. I personally have oily and combination skin (mostly oily, with dry patches), so I use Rimmel Mattifying BB Cream or Boots No7 Beautiful Skin BB Cream for Normal / Oily Skin.

Alternatively, you could use a CC cream or even a tinted moisturiser. Either way, you're combining potentially three steps of your routine into one, and still getting the same result—a moisturised, even skin tone.

So there we have it. Just a few tips to help you get ready in a rush, and still look and feel great. Granted, there is a small element of planning involved—so it's best to think ahead the night before and ensure you have picked the right outfit, and packed your cosmetics bag with the right products (if you're going to the gym, or planning on applying make-up when you get to work—I've been there!)

Either way, this takes very little effort—but the results are pleasantly surprising. By substituting certain cosmetics with combi-products such as BB creams and just applying a little foresight, you can save time in a morning and treat yourself to a little extra time in bed!

Thanks for great tips. I have been using clear mascara gel for my eyebrows instead of eyelashes. Can’t imagine any makeup without actual black mascara, it it’s doesn’t look right for my taste. Also, I found if you have black hair, dry shampoo can be as time consuming, because it leaves white powder in your hair which is difficult to get rid of. I tried few brands, some of them better than another. I personally find it to be easier and quiker to actually wash the hair. What I did I just cut it short. Saves me a ton of time! One piece outfit is the way to go.

And lifeinthelou I'm far from a natural beauty haha - one other thing I do use is a facial tan spray - it's just a fine mist that you spray on very lightly to give you a bit of colour (and I mean a VERY light layer) It dries instantly and the colour builds in a couple of hours.

Since my Hub was selected as HOTD she has posted various questions about the criteria for winning Hub of the day, and how Hubpages are 'probably' selecting them using an automated system.

I can let negative comments go, after all - everyone is entitled to their own opinion - but contacting me directly to give me abuse is making it personal. I mean, why would you go to the lengths of posting abuse to somebody?? It's quite sad really.

Nice hub! I'm definitely not a morning person, so I've become a pro at morning prep in less than half an hour (and in an instance of oversleeping, 5 mins!). A few other good tips would be to shower at night for those who can and learn which make up essentials work for you without needing the whole routine. For instance, I used to like lots of make up, but thanks to rushed mornings, eyeliner, blush, and tinted chapstick give me a very natural look in less than 5 mins!

When I say instantly, I mean within a matter of minutes, in some cases, mere seconds. Here is quick breakdown of how it's done:

  1. Smile—be aware of your facial expressions.
  2. Practice good posture—it's all about body language.
  3. Know your body type and wear clothing that accentuates your best features.
  4. Use makeup strategically instead of heavy-handedly.
  5. Know what colors look good on you.

That's all there is to it. It's not complicated and it doesn't matter what size you are or how much money you have or don't have. Any woman can do this. So what are you waiting for?

1. Facial Expressions

It's easy to say, "smile and you will instantly become more attractive," but it is true.

When I say smile, I'm not advocating you walk around with a demented frozen smile pasted on your face. That's scary, not attractive. What I mean by smile is to simply be aware of what is going on with your face. Do you tend to walk around looking like you're about to take someone's head off? Do you tend to wear a serious expression on your face most of the time?

Whether you realize it or not, people around you take notice of your expression and it sends a signal to them as to whether or not you are approachable. A woman who walks around with a sullen or serious expression is less approachable than a woman who looks content and relaxed. You don't have to smile 24/7, but you when you are out and about, make an effort to relax your face muscles and be aware of what kinds of responses your facial expressions elicit.

When my face is completely relaxed, I either look tired or pissed off, even if I'm not. It's always been a bit of a problem. Men have come up to me all the time at the clubs to ask if I was upset. This happened enough that I realized I had to actually lift the corners of my mouth and relax my eyes to look less pissed off and more friendly.

If you're not sure what your facial expression is most of the time, get a friend to take a few pictures or take pictures of yourself to see what you look like and if you need to work on relaxing your facial muscles.

It's such a little thing, but it can really have a huge impact. A woman who seems content, happy, and friendly is far more attractive and approachable.

2. Practice Good Posture

Bad posture is not only horrific for you health-wise (just ask my chiropractor) but it sends a message to people around you that you lack confidence and it certainly does you no favours in accentuating your figure.

There is a really cool thing about walking around with good posture, it has a direct and instant effect on your mood and by simply changing how you carry yourself, you can physically alter how you feel inside. Don't believe me? Try it right now!

Wearing the latest fashion will do little to make you more attractive if the style is all wrong for your shape. Those skinny jeans might make you look slimmer, but they also may make you look much heavier or shorter than you really are.

For example, my mother is barely 5'4" and if she wears skirts that have a hemline below her knees, she looks much shorter. Certain styles of dresses look better on certain body types. You could be completely in love with that new red dress you bought at the mall, but it could make your hips look even wider than they are. Who wants that?

Once you understand whether you are apple, pear, strawberry, rectangle, or hourglass, you can go through your closet and see what clothing works with your body type and what doesn't. Often, you can have items altered to better suit your shape, so don't worry that you now have to donate or throw away all those clothes that don't suit you.

4. Use Makeup Strategically

While it's true that men usually prefer the natural look on a woman, there is a world of difference between looking natural and wearing no makeup. Unless we are naturally gorgeous, most of us need a little help to look our best.

You might say, What about just going to the grocery store, do I have to wear makeup for that? Let me ask you this, are you single? If the answer is yes, then it can't hurt.

For something like running errands, you shouldn't have to spend more than 5 minutes putting on makeup before you head out the door. A little concealer or foundation where you need it, to hide dark circles and cover any redness or breakouts. A touch of blush, some neutral lipstick or lip gloss, and a little mascara. There, you're done.

I don't know about you, but seeing myself in the mirror with no makeup on does nothing to increase my self-confidence, if anything it does the opposite. Just a little makeup you will look more refreshed, a little more polished, and certainly more attractive. There is no need to actually look like you are wearing makeup, the point is to accentuate your natural beauty and give a little boost to your confidence at the same time.

5. Know What Color Clothing Looks Good on You

You can have perfect makeup on and your hair done just right, but if you are wearing the wrong color, it can make you look like you're about to be sick. Wear the right color, and you will instantly look healthy and glowing.

How can you know what colors look good on you? Well, it starts by knowing your skin tone. Does your skin have a pinkish undertone or is it more yellow? It will also depend on your hair color.

One of the best resources for discovering your colors is the book Color Me Beautiful by Carole Jackson. This was the book that changed how I shopped for clothes, forever. Everyone falls into one of the four seasons and has a palette of colors that suit them best, based on their hair color and skin tone (it has nothing to do with your birthday). I discovered that I was a "spring" and avoided buying clothing that was grey or black because they just made me look pale and sick.

The next time you are out clothes shopping, hold up the garment so that it's right next to your bare hand and you might be able to see if the color has warm or cool undertones and you will notice that certain colors will look better next to your skin than others.

Overall, women with a pinkish tone to their skin look good in colors with blue undertones. Women with a yellow tone to their skin are better with yellow undertones.

I'm curvy and tall and find clothes that accent my attributes while hide the not so great ones, im in process of getting backk to to my rwgular size but in the meantime, a close mother like friend was a dancer, she has shown & taught me proper posture and it wasnt easy getting my body to start doing naturally, but if your intent on it you will do. She also taught me the correct way of standing & entering & leaving a room like a model or debutante. When walking with confidence it makes you feel very confident. If you walk with your head hanging low slumped over I dont care how gorgeous you are you wont get many 2nd looks.

I also put on fresh face if even going to a quick store. You never know who might run into. And nothing is more embarrassing wearing raggy sweats& sneakers with no makeup & running into sineine especiallyif havent seen them in them in awhile.

I have to give a lot credit to my beloved mother who passed when I was young but she taught me young, things like skin care etc its never to early to take care of preventive aging. Ive been told i look in my 30s, for a 55yr old im quite happy about that, I dont use botix nor fillers as of yet..lol. But I must agree with article, i dont wear much makeup lipstick, airbrush foundation & my brows,l. I don't wear mascara, Ive been using eyelash growth serum for about 7 yrs now! I now have the lashes I once had when I was a teenager I do use a heated curler to make them stand out.& very light liner threw my lashes nothing heavy nor cat eyes just inhance my eyes & lashes. Thats it!

Less is more & better. To much face makeup settles into any lines or creases you may have, plus no man likes a winabs face he take nail gi down face and have glib of fiubdation on finger! YuCk!! Thats my secrets.

These are great tips and I believe following them will make me feel better and it's fun to get a color analysis. Makeup makes me look much much better but in the summer time I don't wear foundation at all because the humidity where I live makes it melt off so I don't bother. I do exfoliate several times a week and use a good moisturizer twice a day and that seems to help my skin look better.

I went to my local Clinique at the mall and they did a color analysis with a new foundation they had, plus blush and I looked fabulous when they were done. Yes I purchased that foundation and blush LOL! This hub is a friendly reminder that I will get all dazzled up for the holidays! Voted up and across.

Yes, even when I do go out just to do errands or grocery shopping, I still manage to put on even just a simple dab of foundation and a swipe of lipstick. Not necessarily to attract guys but I just want to look good and decent at least (and most of all not looking haggard).

If you have acne and want clear skin on your wedding day, you will have to resist touching your blemishes no matter what.

If you're getting breakouts, dry patches, or excessive oiliness: the products you're using are failing you. Start by researching products and looking for reviews by real users who have skin issues that are similar to your own.
  • Don't slack off on your new regimen. Once you've stocked up with your well-researched and high-quality beauty products, use them!   • Don't get stressed out. Planning a wedding can be frustrating, and it's important to decide not to become overwhelmed. Make sure to take time for yourself to unwind and relax. Delegating wedding duties can also lighten your load and ease stress. When all else fails, be willing to let things go.
  • Do focus on the important things. Try not to get lost in the details or things that don't go the way you planned. Stay in the moment throughout the planning process, and especially on your big day. Appreciate the people around you and really experience this wonderful time in your life. Remember that your inner state will reflect outwardly.
  • Don't wear too much makeup. You definitely want to look amazing on your wedding day, and this might entail the use of some serious cosmetics. Just remember to go for quality over quantity, and to test out your look before the big day. The best strategy is to go for a polished version of yourself rather than trying to look like someone else.

One of my favorite things to do while I was in Paris was to people watch, especially if you spend time in the fashion district or along Avenue des Champs d'Elysses. Hi Rebekah, I must admit I did not read most of what I know was a stellar girl friendly article, but I do find that you and I have yet another thing in common--I love the French girl look--well OK maybe just the French girls.

Some of my favorites are Eva Green (Ma Vie en Rose and agent Vesper in Casino Royale,) Julie Ormond as Sabrina, Juliette Binoche, and Marion Cotillard. Here is a cool "French look" for her:

Hi lilyfly, I can see that group of guys clapping. I noticed that also in Paris. The men don't have any qualms about letting a woman know he is staring at her. My French friend told me it was expected and that a woman expects to be flirted with openly. They also clap if they see you kissing at a stoplight! Thanks for reading!

@adegenna, I think it depends on the face and the personality for the straight bang look. Some girls can pull it off, on others it just doesn't look right. Personally, I don't like the heavy bang look on Sandra Bullock, it doesn't fit her personality IMO. oh well, wear it well, ladies or sweep the bangs to the side.

Having been to Paris and spent countless hours on sidewalk cafes/ I am an admirer of the chic sophistication of the la femme francaise. The great line up of Catherine Deneuve and Brigitte Bardot is now carried by Marion Cotillard and Audrey Tatou to name a few. voted up! C'est magnifique!

Bonjour europewalker! It's impossible not to notice them while visiting, isn't it? I have heard that their bathroom shelves are lined with jars, tubes, bottle of beauty products. I don't know if it's still tabu, but it used to be rather off limits to use the 'salle de bain' in another home. :=

It helps to find stores with knowledgeable sales people. I had to find a great pair of black trousers this past year and told the sales woman what I was looking for, She knew immediately by looking at me and knowing her inventory what would look best. I bought them on the spot after trying them on. They fit perfectly. It also helps to look through magazines that you can check out at the library or online clothing/fashion sites. I hope you enjoy your shopping, make a list and remember, it's for you. :]
