10 Neon Hair Color Ideas and What Products to Use
I love to dye my hair all colors of the rainbow. I love all things vintage, and I enjoy creating art, taking photos, and doing it myself.
Rave hair! Looking to dye your hair bright, vivid, amplified colors? You can get it with these dyes from Pravana, Manic Panic, and Joico.
Neon colors are perfect for making a statement. Now, maybe you're not ready to make a huge statement by coloring your whole head of hair. That's fine! Neon colors look great on lower layers, as dip-dyes, and even as streaks. So even if you're not into taking the full-on plunge, here are several great dyes to consider.
I've taken the liberty of not only gathering photos of gorgeous colors but actually finding out what dyes were used to get them (which is more than a lot of people can say).
I can't tell you how many times I've searched for hair color photos and found the perfect one but had no clue as to what the dye is or how I can get that color.
So take a look at the list below, and do your homework on the different hair dyes available. Some of these even glow under blacklight, which is pretty awesome.
1. Pravana Neons Blue/Yellow

This awesome neon ombre was done by Linh Phan. He used Pravana's Neon dyes to create the look, applying Neon Blue at the roots and Neon Yellow at the mids and ends. He varied the height to which he applied the yellow, to stagger the blending of the colors.
2. Manic Panic Amplified Pillarbox Red
Pillarbox Red normally appears to be lightly faded out. The Amplified version, however, is as neon as can be! Red is great too because it takes well on non-bleached or lightly bleached hair.
3. Pravana Blue/Neon Blue
As seen in the first photo on the list, Pravana's Neon Blue is aqua-colored. Here's how it looks when blended with Pravana's Blue dye. For this look, try using a dye brush to paint the dyes on different strips of hair, rather than pre-mixing them in a bowl.

4. Manic Panic Lie Locks
Lie Locks looks most vibrant when bleached on platinum blonde hair! This one will probably take a bleach or two no matter who you are before dying.

5. Joico Color Intensity Red/Orange/Yellow
Joico's Color Intensity line is full of bright, bold hair colors. For this neon orange fireball look, mix up using their Red, Orange, and Yellow Color Intensity dyes.
6. Manic Panic Atomic Turquoise
This bright neon turquoise color was created by actually mixing several Manic Panic dyes. Typically, MP's Atomic Turquoise is a lot darker than this - here, it's combined with Electric Lizard and Green Envy.
7. Manic Panic Hot Hot Pink
Ursula Goff achieved this brilliant, bold pink by using Manic Panic's Hot Hot Pink. They've got several different shades of pink dye, but Hot Hot is the best for a bright neon.
8. Pravana Neons
This custom color was created by mixing Pravana's Neon Yellow with a touch of Neon Green. The best part? It glows under black light! Talk about rave hair.
9. Manic Panic Electric Lava
For a bright and bold red-orange, try using Manic Panic's Electric Lava. It can also be made brighter orange by mixing with MP's Electric Tiger Lily.
10. Manic Panic Electric Lizard
And now, to wrap things up with the perfect neon green...Manic Panic's Electric Lizard. As a matter of fact, all of MP's "Electrics" are pretty great. And this is another dye that glows under black light.
