DIY Hair: 10 Green Hair Color Ideas
I love to dye my hair all colors of the rainbow. I love all things vintage, and I enjoy creating art, taking photos, and doing it myself.
Dyeing Your Hair Green
I've never liked the idea of green hair. However, that changed really fast once I started doing some research. There are so many shades, and they all look incredibly awesome when done right.
A lot of these lighter shades would do well on blonde hair—it doesn't even need to be platinum! And the darker shades take really well on unbleached hair.
Of course, if you are bleaching your hair, make sure to deep condition before and after. You can even condition during - with coconut oil! I've done this twice before. Basically, just rub coconut oil into the hair to be bleached. Let it sit for 15 minutes or so before bleaching on top of it. When you go to wash out your hair, it'll feel much healthier and moisturized than it ordinarily would after a bleach.
Outside of conditioning, I will honestly recommend that you wash your hair less. Not only does it help the color to last longer, but it's actually keeping your hair from drying out. Shampooing every day strips your hair of the natural oils that it needs, causing dryness and breakage. So try to cut out a day or two. If you get super oily roots, use corn starch as a dry shampoo. I swear by it.

To get a bright, chartreuse green, use Manic Panic's Electric Banana and Electric Lizard. Start by pouring some green into a glass bowl, and add the yellow to suit your preference.
2. Ion Color Brilliance Mint
Jordi's gorgeous mint-green color can be recreated using Ion's Color Brilliance in Mint. While the dye has fairly good ratings, there have been a few cases of pastel blue hair.
3. Manic Panic Enchanted Forest
Manic Panic's Enchanted Forest creates a rich, deep blue-green. The best thing about this dye? It's good on unbleached hair too!
4. Pravana Green & Blue
If the blue tones in Manic Panic's Enchanted Forest aren't enough, try mixing up Pravana's Green and Blue dyes! It's handy to have several dyes to mix because you can really tweak the color to your own taste.

5. Manic Panic & Ion
This bright green was created using Manic Panic's Electric Lizard mixed with Ion's Color Bright Aqua. Intuition would tell you that adding blue would change the color to a sort of teal, but in this case, it made the green appear more vibrant.

This dye is to die for... The light brings out the depth and shades of the color, and it truly does look like Peacock green!

7. Manic Panic Electric Lizard
Okay, so Electric Lizard has been featured twice already—but with blue and yellow mixes! Here's what it looks like on its own—a bright lime green.
8. Pravana Green & Yellow
Never have I loved green hair as much as I love this mixture of Pravana dyes. Hairstylist Gina Atkinson mixed together Pravana's Green and Yellow.
9. La Riche Alpine Green
La Riche makes an Apple Green and an Alpine Green, but the Alpine green looks more like a true green apple to me. Keevanski even has a video tutorial of how she applied the color in her own hair!
10. Manic Panic Pastelized Enchanted Forest
For a lighter, softer green, mix Manic Panic Pastelizer with Enchanted Forest. If you're cheap like me, you can also just use white conditioner to mix the dye—instead of paying for Pastelizer.
