2017 BomiBox Korean Skincare Subscription Box Review
Kristin tried the Korean skincare subscription box BombiBox and is here to share her experience with her readers.
BomiBox is a subscription box that is curated by Ru, a K-pop and K-drama fan who discovered the quality and effectiveness of Korean skincare but was unable to find a subscription box that met her requirements of affordability, value, and free shipping. So, she made her own box.
Each month subscribers receive 5–8 deluxe and full-size products as well as samples. I have been subscribing to BomiBox for six months now, and I am extremely happy with the products and the packaging. All of the products selected are supposed to work for all skin types, but I feel like that is too broad of a statement. I do think the products will work for most people.
This article will outline the offerings of BomiBox, the costs, and highlight some of the products that were in some of the 2017 boxes. I've included a few unboxing videos from YouTubers to give you a better idea of the types of products in the box. I have also done some product research to determine if BomiBox hits the mark on giving more bang for your buck.
I have compared the total price of the individual items in the May box to the price of the BomiBox subscription and placed those numbers in a table for your convenience. Though the full retail value of the total cost of the items in the boxes varies, you can expect that you will save around 40–50% of what you would have spent on them at regular price. Plus, you are able to try out new products at a reduced price and find items that work for you.
Subscription Options
BomiBox currently has two options: the original BomiBox and the new BomiBag. Both options allow you to pay month to month and are on auto-renewal. You have the option to skip a month, or two, whenever you want. It's pretty difficult for me to go through all the products in a month, so, after six months, I've decided to skip a box or two.
The original BomiBox is $37.99 per month, but you have the option of paying for three, six, or 12 months up front. The original box comes with eight deluxe or full- sized Korean beauty items. The majority of the items pertain to skincare, but occasionally some makeup items and beauty tools are included. Shipping is free, and the cardboard boxes always have a cute designs on them.
The BomiBag is a relatively new addition. It is a cheaper option to the box and costs $18.99 per month. The BomiBag comes with 7–10 sample-sized items, which include some deluxe-sized samples, and one or two full-sized items. The bag also includes items from Japan and Taiwan in addition to Korea, so there is a little more variety in this option.
Both of these options come with a laminated postcard-sized product sheet with a cute saying or message on the front. The back of the card explains the purpose of each product in English, which is super helpful.

Brands Featured in BomiBox
Since BomiBox is curated to include popular, new, and trending items in Korean skincare, subscribers can expect to see new and unheard of brands in the boxes as well as Korean staples like:
- Sulwhasoo
- Tony Moly
- Innisfree
- Skinfood
- Etude House
- The Face Shop
Many of these brands, like Tony Moly and Skinfood, have started to make their appearance in stores like Ulta, and some of these brands can be found in specialty stores and even flagship stores in cities like New York or Annandale, Virginia, a small community with strong Korean influence where there is a Tony Moly flagship store.
Is It Worth $37.99 a Month?
In my opinion, yes it is, but I really love Korean skincare. If you are someone who likes to keep things basic and you only use a cleanser on your face, then this box probably isn't for you. If you use cleanser, toner, and the occasional mask, I would so it is worth it just for the amount of these types of products that come in the boxes. The serums, or skin boosters, themselves are worth it. Remember, these are full and deluxe-sized products, not sample sizes.
If you are curious about what the typical full retail value versus the cost of the box is, check out the table below. I've also included some pictures of the items from this box so that you can get a better idea of the product sizes.
